“ Credo che la formazione del duo Atzori – Brunini sia essenzialmente dovuta come sempre accade – ad una naturale compatibilità di ordine artistico ed umano, ma credo anche che la loro veloce maturazione sia dovuta ad una somma di qualità individuali (come caratteristiche espressive e modo di affrontare la musica) che si sono vicendevolmente completate e potenziate. Ciò che scaturisce oggi dalla presente prova discografica è un prodotto artisticamente maturo, presentato con notevole personalità interpretativa e competenza stilistica. Ma è anche la testimonianza della loro esperienza “sul campo” che li ha visti protagonisti di diverse prime esecuzioni, spesso portate in pubblico dopo una stretta collaborazione coi compositori. Atzori e Brunini si muovono con naturalezza nel visitare le modernissime partiture affrontate, rispettandone colori ed effetti timbrici, e mostrandosi a loro agio nell’esprimere le intricate trame contrappuntistiche e arditezze ritmiche frequentemente richieste. Un tale risultato non si poteva altrimenti ottenere che con una solida preparazione accademica, che si avverte bene nel loro approccio molto consapevole ad una partitura piena di spunti lirici e memorie romantiche come quella di Castelnuovo-Tedesco.”

“ I believe that the duo Atzori-Brunini owes its existence, as it is often the case, primarily to a personal and artistic compatibility between the two guitarists. I also believe that their quick growth depends on a combination of individual qualities (I am referring to their expressive ability and their approach to music), that have improved and progressed through mutual interaction. What we find in the present record is an artistically mature product, rich in personal interpretation and stylistic competence. A product which also bears witness of the guitarists’ on-stage experience and their premiere performances of many pieces, often born out of the collaboration with the composers themselves. Atzori and Brunini are completely at ease revisiting the distinctively contemporary scores here recorded, and prove to be able both to reproduce the specific timbral shading and effects of the pieces and to follow the elaborate contrapuntal structures and rhythmic complexity which characterise them. At the basis of such remarkable achievement is a solid academic preparation, easily recognizable in their conscious approach to pieces full of lyricism and Romantic echoes, such as the ones by Castelnuovo-Tedesco. “
